Exhibition: My Shoe, Your Shoe

Northampton Museum holds the largest collection of shoes in the world, far too many to display at any one time.
Why do we have them? What do they mean to the different communities of Northampton? What do we do with them the rest of the time?
Working with volunteers and community groups, we have been re-assessing and re-boxing our World Shoe Collection. This has helped us better understand the history of their heritage, and how shoes fit into and define personal and cultural identity.
